American coin silver presentation napkin ring with applied beaded borders, 1860.
This interesting napkin ring is monogrammed: WC, above which is inscribed 1864 Dec 21 1889 for a 25th anniversary or birthday. From the style of the napkin ring, it would appear that it dates from the 1860′s and the inscription was done later and by a different hand.
This handsome napkin ring is 1 7/8" in diameter, 1 5/8" tall and weighs 38 grams or 1.2 ozs. Troy.
Monogrammed and inscribed as described above, the soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
The excellent original condition and clear detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
Oddly enough, when we went to list the napkin ring, we discovered another napkin ring inside. You can see the edge of the other napkin ring in the photos. The extra napkin ring came out easily and there was no damage to either as a result of their close association. It was a nice surprise and we mention it to avoid having to take new pictures.
